From the M'Hamid Dunes to the Erg Chigaga Dunes

After admiring the sunrise, you’ll venture into the dunes on a camel trek. In the afternoon, a 4×4 excursion will take you
to the majestic Erg Chigaga dunes.
Erg Chegaga is located in the southeast of Morocco, in the
Drâa-Tafilalet region, about 60 km west of the town of
M’Hamid El Ghizlane. It is part of the Iriqui National Park (which also includes Lake Iriqui).
It is the largest erg (sea of dunes) in Morocco, stretching for about 40 km. The Chegaga dunes are impressive, some reaching up to 300 meters high, offering spectacular panoramic views of the sea of sand.

You’ll witness an unforgettable sunset before spending the evening around a campfire, under a starry sky, in the company of the nomads.

Dinner and overnight stay in the desert.

From Erg Chigaga to Aït Benhaddou

You’ll leave the desert by crossing the dry Lake Iriqui and the rocky plains, keeping an eye out for fossils.

The lake is located in the Drâa-Tafilalet region, between
the towns of Foum Zguid (Tata province) and M’Hamid El Ghizlane (Zagora province). Lake Iriqui is a temporary wetland and part of the Iriqui National Park, established
in 1994, which covers over 123,000 hectares. Due to low rainfall and drought, the lake is mostly dry, forming a vast expanse of salty land (daya). It only fills with water during particularly rainy winters (generally from October to December).

Lunch will take place in Foum Zguid, then you’ll head towards Taznakht, the capital of the Berber carpet, before reaching Aït Benhaddou.

Dinner and overnight stay in your Riad in Ouarzazate.

Visit to Aït Benhaddou and the Fint Oasis

Your final day will be dedicated to exploring the Aït Benhaddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site
famous for its adobe architecture.

You will continue to the magnificent Fint Oasis, a peaceful location ideal for a hike, before returning to Ouarzazate.
The tour will conclude with a visit to the city’s film studios— »Ouarzawood »! The city of Ouarzazate is home to several studios, including Atlas Studios, one of the largest open-air film complexes in the world. These studios and the surrounding landscapes (desert, mountains, kasbahs) have served as backdrops for international blockbusters like Gladiator, The Mummy, and Game of Thrones. Their sunny climate and the diversity of natural settings make Ouarzazate a privileged filming destination and a major tourist attraction for cinema lovers.

Transfer to your Riad or Airport.

This concludes your trip to the Great South of Morocco.
